What Readers Say About
The Quick Answer

I read The Quick Answer every month and I always find something I can use.
Rep. Christopher Cox, U.S. Congress

The Quick Answer is a terrific publication. Each issue [is] packed with really helpful information and ingenious solutions. Barbara Baker

I just LOVE the technique to print a Windows document with a QA DOS mailmerge. What a useful trick! What ingenuity! It's also topical for me. I have a guy I am seeing shortly who runs a recruitment agency and stores 1000's of CVs. I can now offer him both pasting the CV into a field in the QA DOS database (so he can search for a word or phrase) and also keep the document in Word (after maybe scanning & OCR'ing it) and printing it in Word as well! He'll be delighted. Once again, Well Done! Alec Mulvey

Thank you for answering my question in the August issue. The solution given works quite well for me. David J. Mount

Thanks for answering my question on making my records unique. I was especially honored to see my question published.... You have a great publication that just keeps getting better. Keep up the good work. C. Vaughan Minor

I have been a subscriber to The Quick Answer for the past six years. I have used it religiously and it has been extremely informative and helpful. Bob Clark

I have worked with Q&A for five years now and I can truly say that your magazine is the best thing ever to happen to regular users of the program. The tips and tricks you publish ... made me aware of how powerful this thing is. Excellent, excellent work. Erika Yoxall

The Quick Answer has been a great help in getting Q&A 4.0 to do a vast number of tasks for our business needs. Lee Webber

Just got the June issue and the lead article is excellent. I appreciate this type of in-depth treatment that recognizes the need to deal with difficult problems in what is still a flat-file environment. Thanks a lot! Joe Ely

I really value your journal and use it often. It has helped me in developing a very complex system of a dozen or more interconnected databases and . . . related reports and documents. William Bruska

I read every application article in full and very carefully, even if I think I'll never use it. The reason is that I have picked up many tips on how to think about something I want to do from the approach the author took to do something for an entirely different application. These application articles are the best thing among the great many things in The Quick Answer. . . total problem solving with Q&A. R.B. Danville

I have been subscribing for quite some time now. . . [The Quick Answer] has bailed me out several times because it is almost impossible to get help from Symantec. You can be on hold for an hour at a time and I don't have that much time. I just look through your issues while waiting and find the answer and hang up. John R. Denil, Denil Cadillac Co.

You are a lifesaver to those of us who know how to use Q&A, but don't necessarily think like a programmer or know all the ins and outs of Q&A. Julie Richards

The Quick Answer Q&A newsletter (ISSN 1052-3820) began in June 1990 and is published monthly by Marble Publications in Costa Mesa, California.

Tom Marcellus, author of The Q&A Bible (IDG Books) has served as the newsletter's editor since the beginning.

The Quick Answer isn't a "fan club" newsletter. Each 12-page issue is packed with Q&A know-how and problem-solving techniques. Our contributors are professional Q&A developers, savvy users, and people who design Q&A applications for their own companies. They show you how they've tackled data management challenges with Q&A so you don't have to spend hours or days "reinventing the wheel."

The newsletter is written in a breezy non-technical style but doesn't avoid technical issues. We supplement the text with examples and pictures of Q&A screens to help you follow along.

Readers like the way we tap Q&A's hidden power to get the job done. We don't take "Q&A can't do that" for an answer.

The range and depth of the topics we cover go far beyond the Q&A manuals. We help you get the most from Q&A. We dig deep into Q&A, showing you how to use it in ways you never thought possible. We tell you what traps to avoid.

Each issue of The Quick Answer has something for Q&A users at all levels. Novices and veterans alike will find ways to improve their Q&A for DOS and Q&A for Windows applications.

In addition to in-depth how-to articles each month, The Quick Answer features several special columns :

• Our QuickTips (usually several each month) offer concise solutions you can easily implement.

• Our @Help column answers three to five reader questions each month. (As a subscriber, you're entitled to submit questions and get them answered free of charge.)

Our Back Issue Index and interactive searchable Index Database will give you a good idea of our range of topics.

You can view a free sample issue if you have Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later on your computer. You can also order a sample issue using our order form.

The Quick Answer is published in an Online Edition (Acrobat PDF format) you download each month from this Web site. (Download Page) When you subscribe, we send you your Subscriber ID (password) by return email. Then, at the beginning of each month, we send you an email reminder notice with a link you can click on to retrieve that month's issue.
